In 2024, Grana Padano achieved a new record in PDO exports, with a remarkable 2,685,541 wheels sold abroad, representing 52% of total production and marking an increase of 9.15% compared to the previous year. This result highlights the ongoing international growth of the world’s most consumed PDO cheese, with an increase of 225,161 wheels, which accounts for 4.3% of the branded production for the current year.
The main export destinations include Germany, which imported 634,000 wheels (accounting for 23.6% of the total), followed by France and the United States with 319,000 and 215,000 wheels, respectively. Other significant markets include Spain, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, and Canada. Stefano Berni, General Director of the Grana Padano Consortium, expressed satisfaction with these results but also criticized the tariffs imposed by the United States, deeming them detrimental to American consumers and incomprehensible in the current context of trade relations.
