In 2024, overnight stays in Lombardy reached 50 million from January to November, marking an 11.5% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Barbara Mazzali, the Regional Councillor for Tourism, emphasized that the region continues to be a driving force of tourism in Lombardy, with 68% of stays attributed to foreign visitors. The winter season is also looking promising: Christmas bookings indicate an average occupancy rate of 80%, with peaks reaching up to 100% in mountain resorts.
As we approach New Year’s, the outlook remains equally positive: classic destinations such as lakes and art cities anticipate occupancy rates ranging from 90% to full capacity. The provinces of Lombardy are showing excellent results: around Lake Garda, locations like Salò and Desenzano expect tourist numbers to exceed 90%. Mazzali also highlighted the success of the destagionalization of the tourism offering and thanked industry operators for their commitment to creating unforgettable experiences for visitors.
