The harvesting of bitter oranges is currently underway in Gargnano, where the fruits are being picked from trees, flowerbeds, and along the lakeside in the town center and the Villa district. This initiative is the result of a collaboration between the municipality and the agricultural cooperative “Terre & Sapori,” which has allowed for the revival of these once-neglected fruits. Thanks to this project, ripe oranges will no longer go to waste, but will instead be used for the production of jams.
The harvested fruits are transferred to the Sasso district, where a workshop specializes in transforming bitter oranges into artisanal jams. For those who wish to savor these delicacies and other local products, a food sales point is available on via XXIV maggio, in the heart of Gargnano.
