The Tremosine Championship hosted the Open European Sailing Championship for the Hobie category from July 29 to August 7, 2024, organized by Univela. The Australian team, consisting of Cam Owen and Suz Ghent, claimed first place, while the Danish duo of Nicklas Heide and Josephine P. W. Frederiksen secured second, followed by the Germans Jens Goritz and Kerstin Wichardt in third. The event saw participation from over 300 athletes representing ten nations, bringing vibrant multicolored sails to the waters of the lake.
The event also celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Hobie category and received support from the Lombardy Region. Over the ten days of racing, an impressive organization facilitated around 100 races, including qualifications and finals, involving international judges and volunteers to ensure the safety and logistics of the event. The Mexican delegation in attendance took note of the organizational practices to prepare for the upcoming sailing world championship they will host.
