In honor of its bicentennial, the Mayer Hotel in Desenzano, which opened on November 24, 1824, is organizing a photographic and documentary exhibition on Saturday, November 23, and Sunday, November 24, exploring its two centuries of history. Guided tours will be provided by the Hydroscale Committee, offering visitors an in-depth look at the adventures and transformations that have shaped this historic hotel.
Now known as the Mayer & Splendid Hotel, the establishment has welcomed notable figures such as Emperor Francis I of Austria and Victor Emmanuel II. During the Risorgimento, it served as the headquarters for the French army. The hotel is currently managed by the seventh generation of the Mayer family, featuring 44 rooms and officially recognized as a “historic hotel” by the Region. This prestigious hotel stands as an important landmark not only for Desenzano but also for tourism in the province of Brescia.
