On Saturday, February 1st, starting at 9 AM, a conference titled **“Bears and Humans in Trentino: An (Im)Possible Coexistence?”** will be held in Trento, organized by the StopCasteller campaign. The event, taking place at the Caritro conference room on Via Calepina 1, will feature experts from various fields, including ethologist Roberto Marchesini and forensic veterinarian Rosario Fico. Activists from StopCasteller have emphasized that recent decisions made by the Fugatti administration and a fear-based narrative have heightened social tensions regarding the brown bear, putting its population at risk.
The conference aims to analyze the causes of the human-bear conflict and present potential solutions for peaceful coexistence. Sixteen specialists will discuss various aspects related to human-bear coexistence in Trentino, seeking to debunk myths and irrational fears that fuel hostility towards this animal. The event will also be accessible via live streaming on the website stopcasteller.it and on the promoters’ YouTube channel, allowing for broader participation in the debate on this important ecological issue.
