Desenzano: Inauguration of the Listening Center and Solidarity Emporium The new “Listening Center and Solidarity Emporium” opened its doors on Sunday, January 12, welcoming around 350 people to a festive event. This initiative, promoted by Caritas, aims to create a space for support and interaction for those facing economic difficulties, allowing them to receive food assistance and moral support through engagement with volunteers. Currently, the service supports 203 families, who, through initial interviews, can access food parcels on a monthly basis.
During the inauguration, notable local figures were present, including the Bishop of Verona, Monsignor Domenico Pompili, and Mayor Guido Malinverno. The hard work of volunteer Rolando Menghini was also recognized with a plaque for his fifteen years of service. The Listening Center and Emporium will be open to the public on upcoming Saturdays and Sundays to present the services offered and to initiate a collection of personal hygiene products for the prisons of Verona. With this new facility, the community aims not only to distribute aid but also to promote dignified relationships between users and volunteers.
