The new research and rescue vessel “Sperone” of the Riva del Garda volunteer fire brigade was inaugurated during an event held on September 15, 2024. This naval unit, which cost 743,000 euros, is designed to ensure rescue operations in all weather conditions and at any time of the year, thereby enhancing safety for both rescuers and those in distress.
The “Sperone” measures 13 meters in length and nearly 4 meters in width, with a displacement of 16 tons and a maximum speed of 33 knots. Made of fiberglass, the vessel is equipped with cutting-edge technologies such as sonar, radar with satellite tracking systems, and a thermal camera for night vision. Additionally, it features a submersible stern to facilitate the recovery of individuals in the water.
