A 32-year-old Finnish base jumper was injured in an incident that occurred in Dro, in the Alto Garda region, while he was jumping from the Becco dell’Aquila. After deploying his parachute, the young man encountered problems during the flight, as the parachute became tangled in a tree. The impact with the rocks resulted in injuries to his lower limbs, but he remained conscious throughout the ordeal. The call to the Emergency Number 112 came just before 9 AM, prompting a complex rescue operation by the Alpine and Speleological Rescue team.
Rescue operators from the Riva del Garda station quickly reached the scene of the accident and halted the jumps of other base jumpers. A helicopter transported two air rescue technicians to the site, who were lowered down the cliff to assist the injured jumper. After stabilizing and placing the base jumper on a stretcher, the rescuers lowered him to a safe area for easier recovery. Finally, the man was airlifted to Santa Chiara Hospital in Trento to receive the necessary medical care.
