In recent months, law enforcement has intensified checks on modified scooters and bicycles in the municipality of Lazise, located on Lake Garda. The local police have reported an increase in violations, with fines that can exceed 5,000 euros. Between 2023 and 2024, several irregular vehicles have been stopped, including scooters equipped with seats and an unapproved monowheel traveling at 60 km/h. The new regulations establish strict speed limits and specific requirements for circulation.
The current legislation stipulates that scooters may operate at a maximum speed of six kilometers per hour in pedestrian areas and 20 kilometers per hour in urban areas. Furthermore, since January, it has been mandatory for riders to be at least 14 years old and to meet additional technical requirements. The police have also confiscated modified vehicles used by tourists and residents, highlighting the need to ensure road safety in the area. In Lazise, an ordinance is in place that restricts access to bicycles in the historic center to residents only, while tourists must park theirs in designated areas.
