A recent report from the Censis-Verisure Home Security Observatory has highlighted a significant increase in home burglaries in the Brescia area, confirming Lombardy as the region most affected by domestic crimes in Italy. In 2023, there were 31,442 recorded burglaries, accounting for 21.3% of the national total, with Brescia ranking fifth in terms of the number of home thefts and robberies. In the first four months of 2024, burglaries in the city increased by 21.4% compared to the same period the previous year, while robberies saw a staggering 50% rise, underscoring a growing vulnerability.
This situation has raised concerns among residents, highlighting an alarming trend in the areas surrounding Lake Garda as well. Domestic crime is perceived as one of the main sources of anxiety for Italians, with nearly half of the population expressing fears regarding home security. Law enforcement agencies are intensifying their patrols, and local administrations are being called upon to actively collaborate in addressing this emerging security crisis.
