In Salò, the number of taxi licenses will be doubled. The decision was made by Mayor Giampiero Cipani’s Council, which approved the increase in licenses from 6 to 13.
The motivation behind this choice lies in the constant increase of accommodation facilities in the Municipality of Salò, especially in recent years. Tourist presence has more than doubled, going from 120,000 in 2001 to 265,000 in 2022. Furthermore, the construction of two new large hotels and a Community House is planned.
The Council’s decision also takes into account the needs of people with disabilities. In fact, at least one of the seven new licenses that will be put up for bidding must be used to provide non-line public transportation services through vehicles equipped for the transportation of people with reduced mobility.
This choice is based on the needs related to the increase in tourism in the area and the growth of accommodation facilities. However, it will be important to ensure adequate attention to the needs of different users, including those with disabilities.
With the increase in taxi licenses in Salò, it is hoped that mobility in the area will be further improved and an efficient service will be offered to residents and tourists visiting the Lake Garda area.
