In Sydney, on October 21 and 22, two significant events took place that brought together Italian culture and science, organized by the Consulate General of Italy. On the first day, as part of the Week of the Italian Language in the World, the president of the Vittoriale degli Italiani, Giordano Bruno Guerri, delivered a lecture titled “From Book to Lib(e)ro: A Short Journey,” where he discussed the importance of the Italian language and its cultural impact alongside Consul General Gianluca Rubagotti and the President of the Dante Alighieri Society of Sydney.
On the second day, the fifth edition of the Genio Vagante Award was announced, awarded to astrophysicist Orsola De Marco for her contributions to science and her representation of Italy abroad. The ceremony took place at Curzon Hall and was attended by prominent figures such as Consul General Rubagotti and the scientific attaché at the Embassy in Canberra, Marco Lazzarino. The award consists of a bronze sculpture created by artist Ugo Riva and will be officially presented in Brescia in 2025.
