The Lake Garda is increasingly establishing itself as a premier destination for food enthusiasts. Locations such as Sirmione, Gargnano, Desenzano, and Valtènesi not only offer breathtaking views but also boast an extraordinary concentration of Michelin-starred restaurants that attract visitors from all over the world.
Michelin Restaurants and Economic Impact
According to a survey conducted by JFC between March and July 2024, Michelin-starred restaurants generate significant economic returns in Italy. In 2023, their revenue reached 439 million Euros, with forecasts indicating an increase to 498 million Euros in 2024. This positive trend is also reflected in the hospitality, retail, and service sectors.
An interesting fact is that over 40.7% of customers at Michelin-starred restaurants come from abroad. The most represented countries include the United States, France, and Germany, followed by Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and several Asian nations. Michelin stars are not just a culinary recognition; they contribute to building a strong territorial brand value.
Food and Wine as a Travel Motivation
In recent years, food and wine have become one of the primary motivations for travel, even surpassing the search for nature and landscapes. This phenomenon has sparked growing interest among younger generations, leading to a rediscovery of local traditions and the consumption of typical products. Simple and authentic recipes are gaining increasing popularity among tourists.
New Michelin Recognitions
Special commendation goes to the two new Michelin-starred restaurants in the area: Casa Leali and Tancredi, which have received this prestigious recognition due to years of commitment to culinary research and attention to local ingredients. Their dedication to quality and creativity serves as a shining example for all those working in the food and wine sector.
“Congratulations,” says Andrea Maggioni, Vice President of Visit Brescia. “You are our ambassadors in the world, alongside all the others.”
Thus, Lake Garda continues to shine not only for its natural beauty but also for its increasingly rich and diverse gastronomic offerings.
