An unusual spectacle caught the attention of tourists and residents on the lakeside of Gargnano on June 21, 2024. A water snake, a non-venomous colubrid common in the Lake Garda area, was spotted capturing a small perch near the pier. After catching its prey, the animal emerged from the water near the Navigarda ticket booth to consume its meal, gathering a group of curious onlookers.
Giuseppe Giambarda, a local ticket booth attendant, revealed that the snake has made its den right next to the ticket booth and is occasionally spotted in the vicinity. Water snakes are known for their swimming abilities and frequently dive into the lake in search of food. This event provided the audience with a fascinating glimpse of the local wildlife in action.
