One year ago, on December 16, 2023, a landslide struck a section of the Strada della Forra in Tremosine, leading to the closure of this important roadway and causing significant disruptions to local traffic. Recently, an inspection was conducted to install new sensors aimed at monitoring the landslide, with the goal of gathering more comprehensive data to plan restoration efforts. The current situation, although not exhibiting any obvious critical issues, necessitates ongoing surveillance to ensure safety and facilitate the reopening of the road in anticipation of the upcoming tourist season.
During the inspection, several local authorities were present, including provincial councilor Paolo Fontana and Mayor Battista Girardi. The administrations hope that the results from the monitoring scheduled for January will indicate a pathway toward reopening the road, which is crucial for improving traffic flow in the area and supporting the local economy severely impacted by the closure. An extension of the restrictions could further exacerbate the challenges already faced by local businesses and commuters.
