A landslide on the SP9, which occurred on September 10, 2024, near the Valvestino dam, has isolated the municipalities of Valvestino and Magasa, causing significant disruption for residents. The collapse of the roadway has necessitated a detour of approximately 90 kilometers to reach the lake, forcing locals to take convoluted routes for their daily needs. Fortunately, no vehicles were involved in the incident.
Today, a meeting will take place in Brescia between geologists and technicians to discuss the inspections conducted with drones and to plan the restoration work, which could take months. The mayor of Magasa, Federico Venturini, emphasized the urgency of the situation, also highlighting the absence of the tunnel project between Valvestino and Bondone that could have improved accessibility. Other areas in the hinterland of the Alto Garda Bresciano Park are facing similar issues due to recent adverse weather conditions.
