Over two hundred young children from kindergartens, middle schools, and elementary schools in Limone sul Garda participated in the Tree Festival, an event that took place on the banks of the Pura stream at the entrance of the town. The local administrators, led by Mayor Antonio Martinelli and Vice Mayor Franceschino Risatti, welcomed the young participants and helped them plant over a hundred different varieties of saplings. This tradition, interrupted during the pandemic, has been reinstated with great enthusiasm.
During the event, twenty-eight children born in the last five years in the Municipality of Limone were honored. Each child received a certificate and a small birch tree called “the stork’s trees”. The parents of the children joined the event with their kids and also contributed to planting the saplings along the edges of the stream.
This initiative not only promotes environmental awareness among the youth but also encourages active community involvement in the care and protection of the area. The participation of the children and their parents demonstrates the importance placed on safeguarding the surrounding natural environment.
The Tree Festival represents a crucial moment of environmental education for the younger generations. Through this hands-on experience of planting trees, the youth learn about the value of trees and their significance to the ecosystem. Additionally, it raises their awareness about deforestation and air pollution, encouraging them to become responsible and conscious citizens.
The event was organized in collaboration with the local alpine group, which played a fundamental role in the planning and management of the day. The presence of volunteers ensured the safety of the participants and provided support during the planting activities.
The Tree Festival is an important occasion for the Limone sul Garda community, which is constantly committed to protecting its territory. This event not only promotes biodiversity and the conservation of natural resources but also contributes to the development of ecological consciousness among the young residents of the town.
