In 2024, the Lombardy Alpine Rescue conducted a total of 1,254 interventions, assisting 1,634 individuals, marking a significant increase compared to previous years. Despite the stabilization of numbers, there were still 83 fatalities and a high number of searches for missing persons. The interventions were carried out by approximately 6,951 rescuers, who accumulated over 27,000 hours of activity. The main causes of incidents include falls and health issues, with hiking remaining the outdoor activity most frequently involved.
At the beginning of 2025, the Lombardy CNSAS experienced a change in leadership: Marco Astori was appointed as the new president, succeeding Luca Vitali. With five delegations and a network of active stations, Lombardy Alpine Rescue continues to provide assistance in critical situations across the mountainous areas of the region. The need for ongoing prevention and training activities remains essential to mitigate the risks associated with outdoor activities in Lombardy.
