The President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, presented data from Unioncamere regarding the performance of Lombardy’s manufacturing sector during a press conference at Palazzo Lombardia, which was attended by key figures from the regional economic sector. The results show that Lombardy remains above the national average, with an annual production variation of -0.8% for industry and 0% for craftsmanship, compared to a national contraction of -3.7%. Despite the manufacturing sector recording stability in the fourth quarter of 2024, signs of improvement have emerged in production and foreign orders.
Future prospects were discussed among regional leaders, including the Councillor for Economic Development Guido Guidesi, the President of Unioncamere Lombardia Gian Domenico Auricchio, and the President of Confindustria Lombardia Giuseppe Pasini. They emphasized the importance of addressing challenges related to energy costs and access to credit to support the growth of the manufacturing sector. Despite global difficulties such as trade tensions and high raw material costs, Lombardy continues to demonstrate resilience in its role as the engine of the Italian and European economy.
