The Municipality of Lonato del Garda has secured funding of €466,845.20 as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) to enhance the separate collection of urban waste. With Resolution No. 138 of October 15, 2024, a project has been approved that includes the installation of four eco-islands of 4,000 liters and ten eco-islands of 1,000 liters, as well as smart bins for collecting litter from pedestrians. These facilities, which will not replace the door-to-door collection service, are designed to improve the efficiency of waste management and include advanced access control systems for the collection center.
Additionally, eco-compactors for plastic bottles will be installed, providing incentives to citizens through a system of “eco-points” that can be used to obtain drinking water. Mayor Roberto Tardani emphasized that this initiative represents an important step towards greater collaboration between institutions and citizens in environmental protection. The Councillor for Ecology and Environment, Christian Simonetti, underscored the Administration’s commitment to raising public awareness about eco-friendly practices through these new initiatives.
