Hundreds of people plunged into a restricted area in Malcesine, on Lake Garda, raising concerns among local authorities. The incident occurred on August 18, 2024, at the same location where a music event had drawn attention on social media. Despite the access ban, many young individuals made their way to the area to swim and dive, breaking the law and endangering their safety.
In response to this situation, Mayor Giuseppe Benamati issued an ordinance prohibiting access to the area beneath the Malcesine castle and banning dives from the surrounding rocks. Local police conducted checks in the area, identifying numerous offenders. The issue is further complicated by questions raised by opposition members regarding the legality of the music event that had previously taken place in the same area, known for its hazards.
