In Manerba, naturists have mobilized against the fines they received following a police inspection that resulted in 16 penalties of 250 euros each. Fidenzio Laghi, former president of the Emilia-Romagna Naturist Association (Aner), stated that these measures represent a persecution of the naturist minority and called for increased enforcement to combat public indecency. Laghi argues that naturism is not a crime in well-known areas, such as the Rocca di Manerba, where a municipal ordinance from 2005 explicitly prohibits nudism.
Laghi also clarified that the fines must be validated by a prefect or a justice of the peace and emphasized that acts contrary to public decency have been decriminalized since 2016. His request is clear: less persecution for naturists and more focus on those who actually commit offenses.
