Desenzano del Garda will host a masterclass on June 8th and 9th dedicated to the basic and advanced mechanics and maintenance of bicycles, organized by the National Mountain Bike Academy. This course is designed for those who want to gain autonomy in the regular maintenance of their own bike.
The course will cover a wide range of practical topics, including frame selection, appropriate footwear, general bike inspection, headset assembly and disassembly, suspension setup, gear and derailleur adjustment, chain inspection, and component compatibility. Emergency repairs with both inner tubes and tubeless tires will also be addressed.
The educational program has been designed to adapt to the participants’ level of preparation, providing essential informational tools to enrich their personal and professional knowledge. Participants will have the opportunity to film or record audio during the lessons.
The participants will learn how to properly clean the bike, choose the best tools for regular maintenance, and perform a complete check-up. Instructions will also be provided on how to adjust the riding position for optimal performance.
Topics related to hubs, rims, and tire puncture management will be addressed. Participants will learn how to mount and center wheels to ensure optimal performance.
The masterclass will focus on transmission maintenance, from cleaning and lubrication to chain and cassette replacement. Gear adjustment and tuning will also be covered.
Different types of brakes will be explored, with particular attention to the necessary adjustments. The course will also include hydraulic brake bleeding and brake pad replacement.
Participants will be guided in analyzing the headset and bottom bracket, with an emphasis on the importance of using a torque wrench correctly.
Finally, an overview of suspensions will be provided, including structure, main components, setup, and maintenance to ensure comfort during riding.
