Montichiari will become the center of Italian cycling, similar to Coverciano for soccer. Mayor Togni met with the leaders of the Italian Cycling Federation to discuss the management of the Montichiari velodrome and the future Cycling Center, which will include a service building and a cycling track.
According to Mayor Togni, Montichiari will become a reference point for national cycling. In addition to the national team’s training sessions, the velodrome will also be open to other national teams, provincial and regional teams, and amateurs who can use the wooden track.
The new service building will accommodate accommodations and a specialized center for sports medicine, biomechanics, and athlete positioning. The velodrome, being an enclosed facility, will allow performance monitoring without being influenced by weather conditions.
Furthermore, a new cycling track will be built next to the velodrome, open to everyone, where children and young people can approach cycling in complete safety through dedicated schools.
All this was made possible thanks to the participation of the municipal administration in the €4 million PNRR tender, which was supported by the Italian Cycling Federation.
