The community of Tignale is in mourning for the passing of Don Dino Capra, a historic and charismatic figure who directed the Eremo di Montecastello from 1976 until 2021. His funeral will take place today, Monday, October 14, at 3:30 PM at the Church of Sant’Antonio, located on Via Chiusure in Brescia.
A Lasting Spiritual Legacy
Don Dino dedicated much of his life to the Eremo, a sacred place cherished by the residents of Lake Garda. In one of his reflections, he wrote: “I want to thank you, Lord – for calling me here, to the Eremo di Montecastello, where silence stands in the shadow of the Word.” This passage highlights the profound connection that Don Dino had with his role and with the faithful who sought comfort and spirituality in this high Garda oasis.
A Special Recognition
Under his leadership, the Eremo was dedicated to Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini, a well-known visitor to the site. Don Dino’s dedication extended beyond merely managing the Eremo; over the years, he held several significant roles within the ecclesiastical community. Ordained a priest in 1972, he served as a curate in various parishes before becoming the parish priest in Prabione and later the director of the Eremo.
The Community’s Reaction
The mayor of Tignale, Daniele Bonassi, expressed his condolences, emphasizing the importance of Don Dino’s work for the local community: “He has left a beautiful memory in all of us. The people of Tignale feel immense gratitude for having had him as a reference.” This testimony underscores how appreciated Don Dino was not only as a spiritual guide but also as a point of support for those seeking help.
