The trial for the murder of Nerina Fontana, which took place in Sirmione on September 15, 2023, featured the testimony of a retired police officer yesterday, who intervened to stop Ruben Andreoli, the 45-year-old accused of kicking his mother to death. In court, the witness described with horror how Andreoli mistreated the woman, referring to her as “a rag doll” while repeatedly slamming her head against the floor. Other neighbors corroborated the screams and violent scenes that preceded the intervention of law enforcement.
During the hearing, Andreoli listened to the testimonies in silence and sought to respond to rumors circulating in the town regarding his plans to move to Ukraine with his wife. The trial has been adjourned until January 23 and may include a psychiatric evaluation for the defendant. The Brescia Assize Court aims to conclude the case by next summer.
