New details are emerging about the tragic murder-suicide incident that took place in Lonato on Wednesday, April 3rd. After the autopsy on the bodies of the couple, it was revealed that both died from blood loss due to deep cuts. Additionally, a series of fetal ultrasounds were found among the woman’s personal belongings, suggesting that she may have been pregnant at the time of the tragedy.
According to investigations conducted by the Carabinieri of Desenzano and Lonato, it appears that Cristian Catalano killed his partner on the night of Easter Monday and subsequently staged his suicide by cutting his wrists. The man then inflicted fatal wounds to his neck and wrists with the same knife.
Catalano was a new resident of Lonato after living in Brazil for several years and worked for a road signage company. The woman, of Chinese origin, lived in Rivoltella and had been in Italy for about a year.
According to colleagues, Catalano had just requested a vacation period before the incident, which suggests that the murder was premeditated rather than a result of a sudden outburst.
