New restrictions on vehicle circulation will come into effect on Lake Garda from April 1st, aimed at improving air quality. The restrictions will be in place all year round, from Monday to Friday, between 7:30 am and 7:30 pm, excluding midweek holidays.
The limitations will apply to Euro 0 and Euro 1 vehicles powered by methane or LPG, both those exclusively fueled by gas and bi-fuel vehicles in municipalities belonging to zones 1 and 2.
Specifically, the circulation ban will be applied to Euro 0 gasoline or diesel vehicles, Euro 1 gasoline or diesel vehicles, Euro 2 diesel vehicles, Euro 3 diesel vehicles, and Euro 4 diesel vehicles, even if equipped with a particulate filter (Fap). However, vehicles intended for local public transport with more than eight seats, including the driver, will be exempt from this restriction.
Until September 30th, 2024, commercial vehicles and buses equipped with an effective particulate filter (Fap) that guarantees particulate emissions below certain thresholds will be allowed to circulate.
Regarding motorcycles and two-stroke mopeds, Euro 0 vehicles will be prohibited from circulating throughout the year, while Euro 1 vehicles will not be allowed to circulate from Monday to Friday.
As an alternative to time restrictions, a kilometer limitation called Move-In will be available, which monitors the circulation of polluting vehicles by counting the kilometers traveled. Once the established threshold is reached, the vehicle cannot be used during any time slot.
These measures have been introduced to reduce air pollution and improve air quality in the Lake Garda area.
