Gavardo Hospital has recently inaugurated a new Hemodynamics Service within the Cardiology and Utic Operating Unit, marking a significant advancement in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases for the local community.
“Hemodynamics is a branch of cardiology that allows invasive diagnostic procedures (coronary angiography) and therapeutic procedures (angioplasty) to be performed on the cardiovascular system,” explains Gian Franco Pasini, Director of the Cardiology and Utic Complex Structure in Gavardo. By using catheters inserted into peripheral vessels, it is possible to reach the heart and evaluate the coronary vessels responsible for angina and myocardial infarction through the use of contrast medium. The timeliness of interventions is crucial for improving patient prognosis.
The new service represents an important logistical advantage for the Valle Sabbia territory. Patients in need of urgent treatment can now directly benefit from procedures such as coronary angiography and angioplasty at the local hospital, significantly reducing intervention times.
The implementation of the Hemodynamics Service was made possible thanks to a total funding of approximately 1 million euros from the Lombardy Region, supplemented by a donation of approximately 300,000 euros from the “Niboli Silvestro and Margherita Fund.”
Roberta Chiesa, General Director of ASST Garda, expressed gratitude to all the authorities present at the inauguration: “Today we celebrate a very important historic moment for us, after a long and complex process that lasted about 10 years. On June 3, the Lombardy Region officially approved our Hemodynamics Service, which will be immediately operational for all patients relying on the Gavardo Hospital for both diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular issues.”
With this new service, Gavardo Hospital establishes itself as an essential reference point in the management of cardiovascular emergencies in the Lake Garda region.
