In the Gulf of Salò, a new speed limit for boats has been introduced following the tragic incident in 2021 that resulted in the deaths of Greta Nedrotti and Umberto Garzarella. Mayor Giampiero Cipani has issued an ordinance regulating navigation from June 1st to October 13th, reducing the maximum speed allowed to 15 knots during the day and 3 knots at night. The measure aims to improve safety in the stretch between the mouth of the Barbarano stream and Punta del Corno.
The ordinance also includes additional restrictions: the use of jet skis and similar vehicles is prohibited, as well as their storage on beaches or public areas. Activities such as water skiing, banana boats, motorized surfboards, electric windsurfing, and wingfoiling are also prohibited. These measures have been implemented to ensure safer navigation and prevent future accidents in the gulf.
