In Desenzano, a new “reinforced” limited traffic zone (ZTL) will be implemented to address the chaos in the historic center, particularly in Piazza Matteotti and Piazza Malvezzi. The initiative includes the installation of camera-equipped access points that will monitor vehicle entries to the pedestrian zone in real-time, from Via Santa Maria to Via Roma. Deputy Mayor Stefano Medioli emphasized that this measure aims to ensure compliance with existing regulations concerning permits for residents and loading and unloading operations.
The investment required for the implementation of technology and signage is estimated to be at least 250,000 euros, with construction scheduled to begin in the new year. The current ZTL allows access only to authorized vehicles during specific hours, but many do not adhere to the existing rules. Through this initiative, the administration intends to improve traffic conditions and facilitate the work of local police officers.
