A serious incident of violence has shaken the local sports scene during a Third Division match between Real Desenzanese and Progetto Sport Giovani. Last February, the secretary of Real Desenzanese, Giancarlo Giovinazzo, became involved in a verbal altercation with the mother of an opposing player, which escalated into a physical assault. Reports indicate that Giovinazzo directed insults at a player for an alleged foul, provoking the mother’s reaction, which culminated in a heated argument. At the height of the confrontation, Giovinazzo allegedly struck the woman in the face, in front of spectators.
Despite Giovinazzo claiming that he was the first to be attacked, witnesses contradicted his account. The federal prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation and, after reviewing the facts, decided to impose a nine-month ban on Giovinazzo from any sporting activity. Additionally, Real Desenzanese was fined 800 euros, highlighting the seriousness of the incident and the importance of maintaining respect and fairness within sporting competitions.
