From September 26 to October 2, an important initiative promoted by ASST Garda and Fondazione Onda ETS will take place in conjunction with World Heart Day, which is celebrated on September 29. This open week is dedicated to all citizens, with a particular focus on raising awareness about cardiovascular diseases, one of the leading causes of death worldwide.
Campaign Goal
Roberta Chiesa, General Director of ASST Garda, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in raising awareness about cardiovascular diseases. “It is essential to provide accurate information and to engage in ongoing prevention,” stated Chiesa. It is commonly believed that these conditions primarily affect men; however, women are also at risk, although this may manifest at an older age due to the hormonal protection provided by estrogen before menopause. Unfortunately, many women tend to underestimate the symptoms, which are often atypical.
Proposed Activities
During this awareness week, ASST Garda will organize informational meetings and counseling sessions at its hospital facilities located in Desenzano, Gavardo, and Manerbio. Topics covered will include:
- Cardiovascular risk factors
- Healthy lifestyles
- Balanced nutrition
- Promotion of physical activity
- Combating smoking and alcoholism
In addition to the informational meetings, free ECGs will be offered for those identified as at risk during the consultations.

Gavardo Hospital: September 26 from 9:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the Cardiology Clinic (first floor).
