A large international operation against cocaine trafficking has led to the arrest of 12 individuals and the implementation of 8 precautionary measures against an Italian-Albanian criminal group. The operation, conducted by the Brescia Mobile Squad in collaboration with the Albanian police and coordinated by the Central Anti-Crime Directorate, began in 2020 following the discovery of intense drug dealing activities in several establishments in the area. Investigations revealed the existence of a transnational organization engaged in drug trafficking, which imported large quantities of cocaine from South America via trucks traversing Europe.
At the helm of the organization were two brothers linked to one of the most dangerous Albanian clans, the Cela clan. They coordinated the importation and distribution of drugs, also managing the illicit profits sent to Albania through bus drivers. During the investigations, it emerged that the two had traveled to Colombia and Ecuador to strengthen their supply channels. Thanks to the active participation of international entities such as Interpol and the Spanish police, a criminal network with connections in various countries was dismantled, thereby interrupting a significant flow of cocaine into Italy and Europe.
