Recently, 110 healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, launched a petition urging that the hospital in Desenzano del Garda remains in its current location. The document was sent to the mayors of various nearby municipalities, including Desenzano, Sirmione, and Lonato, as well as to the welfare assessor of the Lombardy Region. The signatories emphasize that the facility, inaugurated in 1978, maintains a high level of efficiency and a rational organization of spaces, requiring only maintenance work.
The petition highlights how the alternative proposals for a new hospital exhibit significant shortcomings compared to the current site. According to the professionals, the new project proposes a reduced usable area and fewer beds, in addition to inadequate parking spaces. Therefore, the healthcare workers are requesting seismic upgrading of the existing hospital rather than the construction of a new facility in a less favorable location. A delegation of the signatories is available for further clarification on this crucial issue for local healthcare services.
