A movie-like chase unfolded in downtown Verona on the morning of December 1st, when a 35-year-old man from Calabria attempted to evade a patrol of Carabinieri. The officers signaled him to stop, but the man responded with a U-turn, throwing out of the window two packages containing just over one hundred grams of cocaine during his escape. The pursuit, which involved three additional Carabinieri vehicles, lasted for approximately two and a half kilometers, featuring reckless maneuvers such as driving against traffic and running red lights.
Ultimately, the fugitive was cornered in Piazza Corrubbio, where he was surrounded and arrested after a brief resistance. During the arrest, he was found with 690 euros in cash, and an additional 2100 euros were discovered during a search of his home. In addition to charges for drug trafficking and resisting a public official, a woman who intervened to assist him will also face legal consequences. The arrested man’s vehicle was confiscated, and numerous administrative fines were issued for the violations committed during the chase.
