The municipal administration of Pozzolengo has decided to appeal to the Regional Administrative Court against the authorization granted by the Province of Brescia for a large photovoltaic plant proposed by the Milanese company Garda Solare. The project involves the installation of solar panels on a surface area of 64,000 square meters of agricultural land, currently used for growing alfalfa. Mayor Alex Franzoni emphasized that this action is not against renewable energy but aims to protect the interests and fundamental values of the community, particularly the preservation of agricultural land.
The administration has expressed its willingness to engage in discussions with industry operators and local farmers to explore possible solutions that would allow for the continuity of cultivation beneath the panels, acknowledging the potential of agrivoltaics. However, it has established certain non-negotiable requirements related to the protection of community rights, respect for the historical landscape, and safeguarding the local ecosystem. This appeal also serves as a response to the over 500 signatures collected from citizens opposed to the installation of the plant.
