On May 24, 2024, at 8:45 pm, the presentation of the book “Le case dell’anima” by Giosuè Boetto Cohen will take place in Moniga del Garda. The author explores the importance of homes in our lives, questioning how they have influenced our sense of happiness, protection, and identity.
Boetto Cohen invites readers to reflect on how homes can be true refuges for the soul. Through a narrative that resembles a travel diary, the author retraces the various dwellings he has lived in throughout his life. From the warmth of the family home abroad to vacations spent on Lake Garda.
Giosuè Boetto Cohen recounts his experiences in the United States and Canada, where vast spaces fascinated him. Returning to Milan, he felt disoriented by the overcrowding and noise of the city. A special chapter is dedicated to Lake Garda, where he fondly remembers the vacation home in Moniga del Garda.
Here, he met inspiring people like Febo Conti and enjoyed walks on the pebble and reed beach. Memories also include activities such as tennis with friends, panoramic terraces, olive trees, and the lake that changed its face between calm and storm. There are also anecdotes related to the search for stones and fossils or races with bicycles and carts.
After six years in Moniga del Garda, the family moves for the summer to Gargnano in the magnificent Villa Celeste. Here, Boetto Cohen forms new friendships and discovers golf. The connection with the homes on the lake remains strong, inspiring subsequent moves until their current residence in Oltrepò Pavese.
In the new home surrounded by woods, he finds protection from the uncertainties of the present. He has tried to create spaces that offer wide views similar to those of Lake Garda, unable to replicate the landscapes of rural America.
