The renovation work along the lakeside in Desenzano has been underway for over three weeks and is significantly impacting the historic Feltrinelli beach. The existing promenade has been almost entirely excavated, while the pier will be restored and rebuilt in wood. However, there will no longer be any restrooms or pedal boats, marking the end of an era for this iconic area. The intervention, which spans approximately 250 meters and has been initiated nearly 90 years after the last modification, aims to restore structurally compromised sections of the promenade.
The project includes a new 16-meter-wide promenade over a total area of 7,600 square meters, featuring green spaces and a pedestrian and cycling path. The completion of the second phase of work is expected by the summer of 2024, with the intention of opening at least a portion of the new promenade by Easter. The public works councilor expressed satisfaction with the project, which has been awaited for twenty years, and confirmed the commitment to preserve any historical artifacts during the construction.
