Around 2:30 PM today, the 249 Gardesana Orientale state road was reopened with alternating one-way traffic. The road had been closed overnight due to a large rock falling onto the roadway at Tempesta.
After conducting necessary stability checks on the rock wall, the personnel from the provincial road management service worked to remove the material from the road and stabilize the surrounding area.
The rock, which had a volume of about two cubic meters, was demolished and then loaded onto a vehicle with the help of an excavator. The next step is to complete the installation of “wire mesh” panels on the rock wall above the road, which will take a few more days.
The aim of this measure is to ensure greater safety along the Gardesana Orientale by protecting the roadway from potential rock falls or debris from the overhead rock wall.
The installation of the “wire mesh” panels is only a temporary measure to ensure road safety. Further consolidation and monitoring interventions on the rock wall are necessary to prevent any future collapses.
