The Montecroce Committee has filed a complaint with the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Court of Auditors regarding the project for the new hospital in Desenzano, raising concerns about potential financial damages. The Committee’s mobilization aims to halt the construction of a new facility and promote the renovation of the current hospital. In the complaint, the Committee challenges the cost estimates provided by Asst Garda, arguing that the budget of 142 million euros for the new hospital is underestimated, while the budget for the seismic upgrading of the existing building is overestimated.
Identified inconsistencies include an unjustified reduction in costs for the new structure and an inflation of expenses for bringing the current hospital up to standard. Additionally, the exclusion of the exoskeleton option as a cost-effective and quick solution is criticized. The Committee is calling for transparency in decisions related to the Montecroce hospital and denounces the waste of over 13 million euros in public investments in recent years.
