A new book dedicated to the history of Riva del Garda has been presented, offering a captivating overview through historical photographs and stories that span from the 1930s to the 2000s. The volume, consisting of 172 pages and enriched with over 500 images, will be available for purchase following a brief presentation in the form of a performance, featuring readings by Jacopo accompanied by Marco on the accordion. Subsequently, the book will be available in the bookstores of Riva del Garda and Arco, as well as in some newsstands in the Alto Garda area.
Published by the Altogarda Cultura association, the book aims to give voice to the individuals and organizations that have contributed to making the city a place rich in fascinating stories. Special attention is devoted to the 1960s, a crucial period for the region’s tourism development. Among the themes addressed are also realities that have since disappeared and significant urban transformations. With a largely unpublished photographic selection, the work seeks to preserve the collective memory of the local community. As highlighted by Mayor Cristina Santi and Culture Councillor Silvia Betta in their presentation, this project goes beyond mere nostalgia; it represents an important opportunity to reflect on the past and plan for a conscious future.
