The mayor of Riva del Garda, Cristina Santi, has decided to relinquish the delegations to the councilors following a judicial investigation involving the former Cattoi area. Santi justified her decision as an act of responsibility and transparency towards the community, allowing municipal offices to operate with peace of mind. She also announced a redefinition of the council’s responsibilities until the judiciary clarifies its position.
In conjunction with this decision, the councilor for urban planning, Mauro Malfer, has also resigned, being one of the 77 individuals under investigation in the inquiry by the Trento prosecutor’s office. The recent judicial developments have raised concerns regarding potential external influences on public administration initiatives, particularly in the realm of real estate speculation in Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol.
