A Dutch motorist has been identified and reported by the local police in Sirmione after hitting a cyclist and fleeing the scene of the accident. The incident occurred two weeks ago on Via Roma, where the 47-year-old cyclist was thrown off his bike but sustained only minor injuries. Thanks to surveillance footage and witness testimonies, officers were able to track down the foreign-registered SUV belonging to the responsible party.
After being stopped during a routine check, the motorist denied any involvement in the incident. However, the local police confiscated his driver’s license and charged him with failure to provide assistance. The investigation, led by Commander Mauro Fezzardi, highlights the importance of surveillance systems in ensuring public safety in the tourist area.
