Recent analyses of the incidence of traffic accidents in the province of Brescia have revealed that the Gardesana Occidentale, particularly the stretch of road 45 Bis, ranks as the most dangerous road in the area. According to a report from the Automobile Club Italiano, last year saw a staggering 124 accidents, resulting in 197 injuries and 4 fatalities. This situation is exacerbated by an increase in traffic, which has grown by 75% over the past decade. The state roads in Brescia dominate the danger ranking, accumulating a total of 694 accidents, compared to 209 incidents on the A4, A21, and BreBeMi highways.
Although the data shows an increase in accidents, the number of fatalities appears to be declining: in 2021, there were 66 deaths, which decreased to 61 in 2022 and 59 in 2023, despite accidents rising from 2,551 to 2,881 during the same period. These results highlight a complex situation regarding road safety, necessitating further interventions to improve the conditions of the most critical roads in the province.
