The Rock Master of Arco, one of the most anticipated events in the world of sport climbing, will return on September 14th, bringing with it a mix of adrenaline and spectacle that has captivated audiences for 37 editions. This legendary event, held in the renowned “Home of Climbing,” continues to be an international benchmark for enthusiasts of the sport.
In 1987, the wall at the foot of the Arco Castle hosted the first Rock Master, an event that would become a legend. Since then, year after year, it has attracted the world’s best climbers, offering a unique show that combines tradition and innovation.
For the 2024 edition, the Rock Master will feature a combination of the Duello Lead and KO Boulder specialties, two emblematic disciplines in the sport climbing landscape. Duello Lead is the flagship competition of the Rock Master, where two athletes simultaneously compete on parallel routes of high difficulty with the goal of reaching the top before their opponent. The competition is a direct elimination until the winner is declared.
On the other hand, the KO Boulder involves a series of obstacles where participants face progressively difficult blocks. Each round progressively eliminates competitors until only the final winner remains.
There will be separate rankings for the two disciplines, but the coveted title of Rock Master will be awarded to the athlete with the best combined score in both competitions. Only the most courageous can emerge and write their name in the Olympus of world climbing.
With two months to go until the main event that will bring global attention to the Trentino town of Arco, better known as the “Home of Climbing,” preparations are in full swing. The Rock Master 20.20 organizing committee, together with Garda Dolomiti, is working tirelessly to ensure impeccable organization.
The Rock Master will be broadcast live on Rai Sport from 10:30 PM for the Duello Lead challenges, while the KO Boulder will have its space in the late afternoon. Admission to the event is free, making this priceless spectacle accessible to everyone.
