A suicide attempt was thwarted yesterday morning, Wednesday, April 9, in Salò, where a 75-year-old man submerged himself in the waters of the lake with the intention of ending his life. The incident occurred around 10 AM, when two vessels from the Guardia di Finanza, engaged in patrolling the coast of the Gulf of Salò, noticed the man in distress and promptly intervened. Thanks to the use of a life buoy, the officers were able to rescue him and bring him aboard.
The elderly man’s condition was critical at the time of the rescue: he showed clear signs of hypothermia and shock. After being urgently transported to the hospital in Montichiari, doctors worked to stabilize him, and his admission was classified as code green, indicating that his condition had improved.
