An important step towards accessible tourism has been taken in Salò, where the World4all app was presented. This initiative aims to make Lake Garda more ethical and accessible for everyone, including those with reduced mobility. The project, launched in collaboration with the municipalities of Desenzano, Padenghe, and Sirmione, involved mapping the 20 main points of interest in each location to assess their accessibility. Marco Girardi, president of the Garda Lombardia Consortium, expressed satisfaction with the concrete actions taken after years of discussions on the subject.
The World4all app, available for free on iOS and Android, serves as an essential guide for tourists and residents, providing detailed information on accessible facilities and suggesting feasible improvements at low costs. The goal is to extend the project to another 20 municipalities in the area and potentially to the entire Lombardy region. Training for municipal staff to address cultural barriers represents another step towards inclusion, as emphasized by local administrators.
