In recent days, the first “BiblioSmart” smart locker was inaugurated at the G. Marconi State Technical Institute in Verona, a project that involves the installation of 32 automated dispensers in various high schools across the province. This initiative allows students, teachers, and administrative staff to reserve books and DVDs online from over 80 libraries within the Verona library system, which boasts a collection of more than 500,000 volumes. The new smart lockers have been designed to facilitate access to culture, enabling direct collection of reserved materials at school.
The President of the Province, Flavio Pasini, along with other local representatives, emphasized how this service meets various user needs, making reading more accessible and encouraging the relationship between schools and libraries. The smart lockers are equipped with compartments for returns and will be progressively activated in the coming weeks; the installation at the Carlo Anti Institute in Villafranca is pending the completion of seismic safety works. The company Comperio has developed these innovative structures to promote a more convenient use of the cultural resources available in the area.
